About the company

Ferret Mining & Environmental Services (Pty) Ltd (FERRET) is an established specialist consulting company in the field of mining and environmental management, as well as providing innovative technology solutions to the minerals industry. FERRET was formed in May 2003 by a group of mining and environmental management professionals. In line with the South African Mining Charter FERRET is a Level 2 Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) organisation. Historically Disadvantaged South Africans (HDSA) make up 69% of the staff, whereas 60% of the shareholding is owned by HDSA.

The Company is structured such that it can:

• Actively participate in all levels of the FERRET operations
• Assist in formulating, directing and implementing the longer term strategy for the business
• Position itself as a leading black owned and controlled player in the mining sector, locally and internationally, and
• Achieve broad-based empowerment, both economically and otherwise of historically disadvantaged South Africans.

The Company comprises a core team of professionals with strategic, technical and managerial skills and experience in the mining sector. The Company and its team strive to maintain the highest standards with regard to all aspects of mining and environmental solutions. It adheres to the Code of Ethics of the Engineering Councils of South Africa, South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions, the Geological Society of South Africa, the South African Institute for Consulting Engineers, the South African Institute for Ecologists and Environmental Scientists as well as, the International Association for Public Participation.
